Verlinden learned the comics profession during Vittorio Leonardo’s courses in Châtelet. He began his career with Leonardo’s coloring studio, where he also lend a hand on some ‘Lucky Luke’ artwork for Morris.
He was employed by Éditions Dupuis as a letterer and revisor, while also making some editorial illustrations for ‘Spirou’. He became Tome and Janry’s assistant in 1993 and has worked as a penciler, inker and co-plotter on their ‘Petit Spirou’ gags ever since. He also inked some backgrounds in the ‘Spirou et Fantasio’ story ‘Luna Fatale’. 2014 marked the long-awaited return of the action comic ‘Soda’, with the 13th album called ‘Résurrection’, that is written by Tome and drawn by Verlinden, who succeeded the previous artist Bruno Gazzotti.
