Spyros Bibilas is a Greek actor, who is known for his work in theater, cinema, television and voice acting.
He was born in Piraeus, on January 26, 1956.
He graduated from the Ralleios Teachers Training College and the Ionidios Experimental School of Piraeus.
He studied at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and also studied acting at the Drama School of the Peiraikos Association, since from a very young age he expressed his interest in theater.
His first theatrical performance, The Courtyard of Miracles, took place with the Experimental Stage of his school at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus.
He has collaborated with all the important names of the Greek theater, actors and theater producers, while he has collaborated with theater companies in central Athenian theaters, on tours and also at the National Theater, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Epidaurus, etc.
He has performed works of greek and international repertoire as well as ancient greek drama. At the same time, he has made many appearances in movies, in short films, but also in television series.
He has given his voice, among other things, to the following characters:
Bugs Bunny, Jokey / Grumpy / Clumsy (Smurfs), Tweety, Kermit the Frog (The Muppet Show), Grand Duke (Cinderella, Cinderella II and III), King of Hearts and Bill the Lizard (Alice in Wonderland), Piglet (Winnie the Pooh), Zazu (The Lion King), Iago (Aladdin, The Return of Jafar, Aladdin and the King of Thieves), Dolly (Lucky Luke), Gingerbread Man (Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, Shrek Forever After), Miss Crawley (Sing & Sing 2).
From an early age he was involved in trade unionism, as he had strong concerns about the public affairs and rights of the acting industry.
In 2020 he was elected President of the Greek Actors Guild.
From time to time he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Actors Guild, and also as treasurer and general secretary.
He was also President of the Mutual Aid Fund of the Greek Actors Guild for 18 years, in which he now holds the position of Honorary President, and is a member of the Board of directors of the Collective Management Organization “Dionysos”.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Theatre of Northern Greece and the Organization of Corporate Troupes.
In the parliamentary elections of 2019, he ran as a candidate in Piraeus A’ with “Pleusi Eleutherias”.
He speaks English and French. In his professional career he has participated in productions abroad, such as the American miniseries of NBC The First Olympics: Athens 1896.
In 2021 he played John Latsis in the TV series The Crown, an international production filmed to air on Netflix. In the same year, he participated in the filming of the Russian production “The Son”, in the role of Zafar, alongside renowned artists of Russia, such as Aleksei Valeryevich Serebryakov.
He has taught acting in drama schools from 2009 to 2018 (Athens School, Theater of Changes) and dubbing seminars at IEK AKMI.
